Yoga Classes and Private Lessons
My yoga story began over 20 years ago in a studio in St. Louis. I had no idea what I was doing, or that there we even different styles of yoga. I took my class and I went home. There was absolutely zero cross-over into my daily life. To be honest, it didn’t really light me up. The teacher and practice were a bit rigid, but I felt there was something there I wanted to know more about.Â
After many years of popping into the occasional yoga class, I ended up back in my hometown of Cincinnati. I happened upon a Kundalini yoga class. And FINALLY, a light went off! This was very different from any other class I had taken. There was a structure and a purpose that made sense to me. We moved through yoga postures to prepare the body for a seated mediation. I would leave those classes feeling better than ever, but it still remained a separate “activity” I attended once a week. After a year or so my favorite teacher left and I gradually got out of the routine of going, and there went my practice.Â
In late 2015 I was again seeking something. I was working out regularly but it was getting old and I have been out of a yoga practice for a couple of years. I saw a friend post about a Buti yoga class that caught my attention. I signed up for a week of online classes and with that, I opened pandora's box. I was drawn in by the high energy and music, but I got so much more. “Buti” is a Sanskrit word meaning to awaken something hidden. This practice awakened a deeper desire for me to connect more spiritually to my practice and this has been a path for me to form a deeper connection to myself, to my desires, and to my own strengths. In 2017 I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training program (RYT) while going through chemotherapy. I am excited to share the yoga movement with others and help make it a part of their lives. Â
Private Yoga Lessons
Private yoga lessons are much more than a “beginner yoga” class. Before we get into moving into a “flow” I will assess your movement. From there I will break down the components of some of the basic postures, including basic hand and finger placement. We work to build strength so that you can gradually move through a flow. If you already have a good foundation of movement and strength we move thru various poses with an emphasis on posture and alignment. My goal is for you to feel confident and safe walking into any yoga studio for class
You know you want to feel better and gain control of your life.
There has to be a first step or you will continue to spiral like I did. No one wants that sort of wake up call. This is such a wonderful and supportive approach, I promise to nurture you through the process because I believe in it so deeply!
